Upper Half of First World

I nearly fell off my chair that day when MM Lee reportedly said we are moving “into the upper half of the First World. We can do this in the next 10-20 years.”

Does he really believe that Singapore is now already in the First World?

Maybe income wise some Singaporeans, and of course that includes the millionaire ministers, are in the First World.

But then:

Do any of the First World countries have as many elderly working as cleaners in food centres and toilets as Singapore?

Do any of the First World countries have as much as 40% of their households in income/expenditure deficit every monthly like we have here?

Did any of the First World countries need to deploy some 20 policemen to restrain the relatives of a brain-dead person while the hospital staff wheeled him out to harvest his organs?

Maybe the First World countries are not much different from Singapore. Maybe I'm ignorant and I hope I'm.

I am from the netherlands and visited multiple times and investigated life in singapore for a little bit. But we have the same
or more severe problems here as wel and we must work till 65 before going with pension if pension still exist with the getting older of the population and people dont make baby's any more just like in SIN because they are to bizy working and spending money. And 1/3 of my montly earnings
go's to the government and we got 19 procent tax on all goods we buy in store. And
about police mathers they are scared to go in some neihberhoods and for some races(foreighn). In my eyes you guys are already a first wirld country and i enjoy stayin their. One more thing about complaining about to much rules in SIN :We dont have a lot of rules here for instance policy on drugs is very relaxt(can buy weed in store) but justice on murder/assault and abuse are very bad. for murder you get 2 years jail and some clinic time(1 or 2 years)thats if you say you had a bad youht. Every country first second or third has his problems and if i look at uk and france i dont want to life their with all the problems they got.
